Why Collagen is a Must

Why Collagen is a Must

#1: Protein

Do you feel like it’s a struggle to get enough protein during the day? If you’re like me and tend to eat more vegetables, fruits, nuts, quinoa, etc., you may not be getting enough protein to help your body function at optimal levels. I’m not saying that those foods don’t have protein or that it’s impossible to get enough with those foods, but it can sometimes be difficult to eat enough to reap the benefits.

Great Lakes Gelatin

Because I gravitate towards foods that don’t always have the most protein, I’ve found that using Great Lakes Gelatin helps me get the protein I need in the fastest, simplest, and easiest way.

I use Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate the most often, which is hydrolyzed collagen that comes from the bones of animals. It doesn’t taste like anything, so you can mix it in whatever you want like coffee, tea, smoothies, or other drinks, and even baked goods, sauces, soups, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE

The green container by Great Lakes is for cold liquids because it’s hydrolyzed, so it doesn’t turn into gel. However, Great Lakes also makes gelatin, which comes in a red can, that only dissolves in hot liquids and will thicken/turn into gel once it cools. Like I said, I use the Collgen Hydrolysate the most often because it mixes into everything easily, but I like to use the red can for making gummies! 🙂

Other Benefits

Not only does this magical powder give you a little protein boost, but it’s also great for supporting the joints, skin, nails, hair, and teeth, boosting the immune system, balancing hormones, and my personal favorite, improving and supporting digestive health!

So, if you’re looking for an easy way to incorporate more protein in your diet and want to reap some other great benefits, I highly suggest giving Great Lakes Gelatin a shot! It’s always worth a try! See why Dr. Axe recommends incorporating collagen into your daily routine!

Note: If you can’t find Great Lakes Gelatin in the stores and don’t want to order it, Vital Proteins is another one of my favorite brands. They have a lot of other cool products, too, like their new Collagen Creamer! I love putting it in my smoothies because it makes them SUPER creamy!
